30 weeks.

i think it's really starting to set in for siena that another baby is coming. she is both excited and sceptical.

a nice visit.

siena and sinai had a nice visit last weekend. first they played at sinai's house, then we all went to the toddler park down the block from his house. even though it was cold siena decided to take off one of her dresses (all she will wear these days) and really liked playing with the plastic phone she found.

bangs!

sisi got her first haircut on saturday. just a quick snip of the bangs, but it makes a real difference. she hated her hair getting in her eyes, however was not a fan of ponies or clips, so bangs it is. she was really excited about getting her haircut until it was time to actually walk into the place and do it. she watched as two boys got their hair buzzed and i think became a little nervous. when it was her turn she cried a bit while she sat in my lap, but the nice lady talked to siena about her flip-flops and pink toenails and then cut her bangs. it was quick and easy and now siena has a story to tell all her friends. afterwards we celebrated with cookies of course.

dottie and sisi together again.

it has been some time since we had a chance to hang out with our friends dottie and mara. this friday we met them at the little farm in tilden. as we waited for them to arrive siena kept saying "dottie, mara" while watching for their car to pull into the parking lot. both the girls enjoyed seeing the many animals, but liked their mamas to actually feed them. we had a picnic lunch on the grass and then some play time on the structure. it was a pretty perfect friday morning.

recently we went to sonoma to spend the weekend at tutu and baba's house. it is so nice up there this time of year. siena made pretend cookies with tutu, played at the park with dada, had a wonderful visit with nonnie and even had some milkshake as a treat. it was a very nice weekend away.

santa cruz...

last weekend i went with josah and muluk to santa cruz to celebrate rebecca's new baby coming and her birthday. we drove down on saturday night and i spent my first night away from siena. it was a major step for us and was wonderful! i got to sleep in and spend some quality time with my girlfriends. when nick and siena arrived for the party she was happy to see me, but just generally happy, running and dancing around into the evening. i think i should spent the night away more often.

little builder.

siena helped her dada build a roof on her climbing structure this weekend. as soon as she saw nick's tools she ran to get her own. they were very cute working together throughout the morning and the roof made the structure complete.

little friends...

siena invited some friends over for dinner the other night, baby julius & family and sammy & gabe. siena had a lot of fun feeding julius dinner and was entertained by there being two baby bellies in the same room. i think she is going to make a great older sister.

weekend breakfast.

recently we had a nice weekend breakfast with friends (aleishall & toscana, bronwyn & emmett and alexis). i think the girls were a little much for emmett, but he warmed up to them as they played outside and shared snacks. toscana and siena are quite the pair these days, both bringing a little spiciness to the relationship. however, they always squeal when they see one another and there are plenty of hugs and kisses, so everything is just fine.

a weekend walk.

siena and i joined nick and georgia on their afternoon walk this past saturday. siena decided that her doll bella needed to join us too. however, nick ended up carrying both siena and bella at one point during the walk. it always amazes me how long it can take to walk only a few blocks.

babies and bellies...

there are a number of pregnant friends in our life right now. one of my oldest friends rebecca is having a baby about a month before our baby is due. siena and i went to her shower this past weekend. it was a really nice celebration for everyone especially siena. she got to do artwork with tutu, played with her buddies muluk and sinai, visit with many aunties, eat yummy food, watch rebecca open presents, and dance around the living room as the party ended. what a nice saturday.

bye...

khalil, aya, uncle io and auntie nura left on a long adventure last week. it was sad to say good-bye, but we can't wait to hear all of their stories when they return. before they left we went to a small going away party and then had a sweet family dinner at our house. however, it never really felt like we said a proper good-bye. i guess it might just be easier that way. whenever we drive by their house siena says, "aya" longingly and we talk about how they all went on a big plane to a far away place but will come home soon to visit us and the new baby. then siena says she wants to go to and when i ask where she says "hawaii."
