birthday...

one of siena and rocco's friends from school, aiden, turned three and we went to his party to celebrate. all the kids at the party were from their daycare. they are a sweet little group of kids and it's nice to see them all play together outside of school. siena is moving on to a preschool next school year, as are most of the three year olds, which will be a little bittersweet. but rocco will stay at the daycare one more year so we will still stay connected.

camping...

we decided that we couldn't handle a big birthday bash this year so we went camping in oakland instead. it was a totally fun trip, especially for the kids. what started out as just a family trip turned into a pretty big group camping experience (toscana, muluk, julius and natalie & justin all joined us). we saw deer and a baby bird, ate smoores, played in the dirt, and peed in the forest. toscana and sisi had their very own tent which was very exciting, sisi is still talking about it daily. i think we should make camping for rocco's birthday a tradition, maybe we'll go farther than oakland in the future, but there really isn't any need.

farmer's market...

the other day we walked from the kids daycare with aleishall and toscana to the farmer's market. we got some cherries, peaches and yummy bread. rocco tried a little cherry but wasn't so sure about it. it was an afternoon treat that we'll have to repeat.

graduation party!

auntie tashi graduated from CCA this past month so we threw her a party. siena always enjoys having friends and family over and rocco felt festive too after a nice nap. i think tashi enjoyed herself as well. congratulations tashi and good luck in the real world...

tattoo artist.

siena is nick's new tattoo artist. she's pretty good i'd say.

cameron school picnic.

the school where i work has an annual picnic where we invite all the families we work with to come play. we didn't make it last year because i was way too pregnant to do anything, but we went as a family this year and it was a lot of fun. siena and i got our faces painted by sweet ella, rocco figured out how to crawl through a tunnel, nick enjoyed the food and i got to introduce my family to my work friends. we look forward to next year.

siena will often say, "i love marie, i love nick, i love rocco, i love georgia, and i love my cousins" (tutu, mimi, tashi, and nooni often make that list as well).

two to twelve.

rocco is a year old! this year has gone by crazy fast. i know that all parents say this, but in my experience the first year with a second child goes by too quickly. turning a year old to rocco doesn't mean much, however, to our family it means a lot. i'm SO impressed with how siena has handled this first year. she is a wonderful older sister and has demonstrated such grace throughout this year. rocco is a lucky little guy to have a sister that is as loving and attentive as siena. i'm also proud of nick and myself because it has been HARD! although there was an ease that came with there being two of them and two of us, two kids is definitely more than one. but we are still here and what a lucky little family we are. happy first our sweet little boy. thank you for all your yumminess.

lil' bruiser...

over the last month rocco has hurt himself SO many times. it has been on many different people's watch so it's not us, it's definitely him. he just thrusts his chest forward and takes off almost running. as soon as his face is almost healed from one crash, he falls again. i hope this phase passes quickly i'm tired of explaining to strangers at the market what happened to my child.

mother's day...

to celebrate mother's day nick and i spent the day with our own mother's. i went to the city with tutu, and nick, the kids, tashi and mimi went to the zoo. i did spend some of the day with my own babes, eating a yummy breakfast that nick made for us and playing in the afternoon. we all had a wonderful time celebrating mamas.
