a tree for siena.

the day before siena's birthday we planted a dawn redwood with her placenta (which had been sitting in our freezer for the past year!) on my parents property in sonoma. the tree is next to two other redwoods planted for khalil and aya. this was something that we had been wanting to dosince her birth and felt right to complete on her first birthday. it's a tiny tree right now, but it will grow with siena and one day be big and strong.

christmas night.

nonnie and the silberman clan came up to celebrate with us on christmas night. it was nice to have both our families together. we lit the candles for 5th night of chanukah and ate a delicious meal cooked by tutu bobbin. siena began to warm up to the puppy and as always was busy carrying around a bag (look familiar josah?). 

christmas day.

after breakfast and opening gifts we walked down to the goldman's to visit and celebrate christmas "howard" style (vida's grandfather). siena got to meet a new friend kentaro and enjoyed all the attention she got from her uncle av and aunties lori, vida, lia and rachel. 

christmas morning...

siena wasn't so into opening gifts, but her and beni enjoyed tearing up the wrapping. nick got her a new pair of overalls that are awesome and some berets for her few strands of hair (they look darling and ridiculous at the same time).  it was so nice being at my parents, next to the fire, with christmas music playing in the background for siena's first christmas. 

christmas eve.

we drove up to sonoma to tutu and baba's house on christmas eve day. siena loved being in a new environment, but wasn't so sure about their new puppy, beni. siena helped us decorate the tree and just stayed busy getting into everything she could. she also worked on going both up and down stairs. our house doesn't have any stairs, so she has to learn at other places. she knows how to go up, but she doesn't really like crawling back down which can be a problem. 

one year old!

so much has happened in the last week. there are so many photos and stories i want to share, but the most important event to tell you all about is that siena turned one year old on saturday! we celebrated her first birthday by spending the day as a family (having breakfast with the daterra's, visiting with auntie tartar, taking a walk with mimi). it was a beautiful day. i'm proud of the three of us for making it to this point and am excited to see what the next year brings. 

first chanukah.

we've been lighting candles for chanukah the past few days. siena likes to hold the candle box and take out candles one by one. she also likes watching nick light the candles and is curious about the flame.

i put siena in an old dress of aya's and she looked too cute. i'm beginning to like the girly look a little more i think.

siena rose and tutu bobbin took a nap together while tutu was babysitting last week. it's so sweet cuddling with miss siena to take a nap.

at target the other day aleishall and i had to buy the girls matching shirts. this morning we photographed them wearing their stars and stripes. cheesy i know, but darling as well. in the second photo siena is plotting how she can get ahold of toscana's tummy.

sweater time!

since it's been so cold out siena has been wearing all her warm items, like this sweater that auntie tar-tar brought home from spain. good thing we put it on because it is almost too small, like many of her clothes these days.

el cerrito!

auntie natalie gave siena this cute el cerrito shirt so she could represent her new hood. although it looked big it actually fits pretty well, so siena will be rocking it on the regular.

potty time!

tutu and i put siena rose on her little potty before her bath on friday night and she peed. she liked sitting on it and must know what to do from watching me so many times. i'm excited to keep using it especially for #2.  

an afternoon with hudson.

i'm making hudson's first birthday invitations so he had to come over for a consultation. i think he'll be pleased with the final product.
