the day before siena's birthday we planted a dawn redwood with her placenta (which had been sitting in our freezer for the past year!) on my parents property in sonoma. the tree is next to two other redwoods planted for khalil and aya. this was something that we had been wanting to dosince her birth and felt right to complete on her first birthday. it's a tiny tree right now, but it will grow with siena and one day be big and strong.
